When oriented to the side mounting surfaces of a Keymod handguard, the light positions at approximately 1:30 or 10:30 o'clock (pointing upward) or 4:30 to 6:30 o'clock (pointing downward)—traditional scout light positioning that keeps your light where you need it without obstruction. Three lateral mounting positions let you dial in exactly how far the light body sits from the top rail, front sights, or other gear; you get roughly a quarter-inch of adjustment across those three positions.
