The Patriot Ordnance Factory AR-Platform 00342 buffer tube is a mil-spec anti-tilt buffer tube engineered to solve one of the most common wear issues in AR-15 and AR-10 platforms: carrier tilt during cycling. Built from 7075-T6 aircraft aluminum, this tube uses POF's signature "carrier cradle" design to keep your bolt carrier properly supported whether the bolt is locked back or forward. That means less premature wear on both the tube and your carrier, and more reliable function over thousands of rounds.
The anti-tilt mechanism works because POF integrated the buffer detent button as a locking feature—it prevents the tube from rotating or loosening under harsh operating conditions or sustained fire. If you shoot in marine environments or high-humidity climates, three additional drain holes help shed water and keep corrosion at bay. This is a drop-in replacement for POF P415 and P416 rifles, and for early P308 rifles (pre-October 2012) that came with a 6-position tube.
Before you buy: if you own a newer P308, check your rifle's serial number. Models built from October 2012 onward use a 7-position buffer tube and standard AR-15 carbine buffer specs—this part won't fit those. Look at the first two digits of your serial; if it reads "12" or later, verify your stock position count to be sure. This is a hard-use part for shooters who demand durability and precision from every component.

This tube is a direct replacement for POF P415 and P416 rifles equipped with a 6-position buffer tube. If you own a P308, check your serial number first: models manufactured before October 2012 with a 6-position tube will accept this part. P308 rifles made from October 2012 onward have a 7-position tube and require a different setup.
POF's carrier cradle system keeps the bolt carrier supported at all times—even when the bolt is forward and fully into the extension. This prevents the carrier from tilting on the tube, which is the primary cause of premature wear. The buffer detent button serves double duty as a lock that keeps the tube from rotating loose under sustained fire or hard use.
Yes. POF designed this buffer tube with three additional drain holes specifically to shed water and prevent corrosion in wet or salt-air conditions—an advantage over standard mil-spec tubes.
Count the adjustment positions on your rifle's collapsible stock. You can also check your serial number: if the first two digits read "12" or later on a P308, your rifle almost certainly uses a 7-position tube and will not be compatible with this part.
