The IWI US Tavor 7 is a modern bullpup rifle built for shooters who want a compact, controllable platform in 7.62 NATO—the full-power intermediate cartridge favored for tactical work, distance shooting, and hunting medium to large game. If you've run an AR platform and want something shorter without sacrificing sight radius or barrel length, or if you're already familiar with IWI's ambidextrous handling, the Tavor 7 delivers the same battle-proven gas piston reliability in a more maneuverable package.
Everything about this rifle is ambidextrous by design. The safety lever, magazine release, bolt catch, and charging handle all switch from side to side without tools, so left- and right-handed shooters operate it identically. The 16.5-inch chrome-lined, hammer-forged barrel is built for longevity and accuracy, while the short-stroke gas piston with a 4-position regulator (including an OFF setting for suppressed or specialized use) keeps recoil manageable and cycling smooth. The rotating bolt system locks up tight, and the reinforced polymer chassis is tough enough for hard use.
The fore-end is M-LOK compatible, with Picatinny rails at 12 and 6 o'clock, so mounting optics, lights, vertical grips, and other accessories is straightforward. The magazine well accepts standard 10-round STANAG magazines. At just over 9 pounds with a 26.75-inch overall length, the Tavor 7 is substantially shorter than a rifle-length AR in 7.62 NATO, making it ideal for vehicle use, home defense with real stopping power, or any scenario where maneuverability matters more than barrel length.
IWI's reputation rests on reliability under pressure, and this rifle carries that lineage. The pistol grip is user-replaceable if you want to dial in ergonomics to your hand, and the whole platform is built to run suppressed, in adverse conditions, and without fussing.

Yes. The 4-position gas regulator includes an OFF setting, which is specifically designed to allow the rifle to cycle reliably with a suppressor or for specialized operations where gas cycling needs to be disabled.
Completely. The safety lever, magazine release, bolt catch, and charging handle can all be switched from side to side without tools, making it equally shooter-friendly whether you're left- or right-handed. Once switched, all controls operate identically from either side.
The Tavor 7 features Picatinny rails at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions and M-LOK slots along the fore-end. This lets you mount standard Picatinny or M-LOK compatible optics, lights, lasers, and other accessories.
