The Dead Air DA001 1/2-28 Shim Kit for Suppressor Alignment gives you the precision tools needed to dial in your suppressor's runout and baffle alignment on 1/2-28 threaded barrels. When a suppressor isn't perfectly concentric with your barrel, you get baffle strikes, increased backpressure, and potential damage—shims let you adjust and correct that misalignment without permanent modifications. Dead Air engineered this kit with three distinct shim thicknesses, each marked for easy identification, so you can stack and adjust until your suppressor tracks dead-center.
Proper suppressor alignment matters. A canted or off-axis can will shoot off-target, wear unevenly, and put your gun and hearing protection at risk. This kit includes multiple shims of each thickness—four thin shims, five mid-range shims, and one thick shim—giving you the flexibility to find the exact combination your barrel needs. The design uses a step-down approach: stack the thickest shim first, then add thinner ones as you fine-tune rotation, so you're always working toward zero runout.
If you're running a Dead Air suppressor on a 1/2-28 barrel or need to true up any suppressor on that thread pitch, this kit is standard maintenance gear. It's the kind of tool that separates a clean, quiet, reliable setup from one that's quietly failing. Keep it in your range bag or reloading bench—it's small, affordable insurance against a wasted suppressor.
| Thread Pitch | 1/2-28 |
| Shim Type 1 (One Notch) | Qty 4, .004″ thick, ~40° rotation per shim (~1/9 turn) |
| Shim Type 2 (Two Notches) | Qty 5, .006″ thick, ~60° rotation per shim (~1/6 turn) |
| Shim Type 3 (No Notches) | Qty 1, .060″ thick, ~1.7 turn |
| Total Shims Included | 10 shims |
The Dead Air DA001 is specifically designed for 1/2-28 threaded barrels and suppressors. Do not use this kit on 5/8-24 threaded barrels.
Stack the thickest shim (.060″) on the barrel first, then thread your suppressor on. If it's still off-axis, unthread it, remove the thick shim, and add one or more of the thinner shims (.004″ or .006″) instead. The notches on each shim help you identify thickness and track rotation. Repeat until your suppressor runs concentric.
Each thickness causes a different amount of rotation—from roughly 40° for the thinnest to 1.7 turns for the thickest. Having several of each thickness lets you combine them to hit the exact adjustment your barrel needs without overshooting or undershooting alignment.
These shims are designed for any suppressor on a 1/2-28 threaded barrel, not just Dead Air cans. As long as your barrel and suppressor share the 1/2-28 thread pitch, you can use this kit.
