The Battle Arms Development BAD-ASS-PRO ambidextrous safety selector is a fully modular upgrade for AR-15, M4, and M16 platform rifles that swaps the factory control for a true left/right-handed option. Built by the inventors of the original modular AR safety, this professional-grade selector solves the real friction point: compatibility. Unlike traditional ambi safeties, the BAD-ASS-PRO works with any AR variant lower receiver and any trigger designed around mil-spec full-auto safety geometry—no guessing, no secondary research, no incompatibility surprises at the range or in the field.
The design centers on a patent-pending internal locking mechanism that replaces the fragile screw-and-spring approach. Instead of breakable fasteners and detents that rattle loose, this lever assembly uses a robust self-locking set screw with no thread-locker required. The 5/64" set screw resists stripping, and because there's no exposed screw head to shear, installation and removal stay hassle-free. You get positive, confident lever positioning at 0°, 90°, and 180° angles—the crisp tactile feedback you expect from a duty-grade control.
What ships in the box gives you the flexibility to configure for your hand: a standard lever, a shorter lever option, and both set screws, plus a hardened stainless detent and spring. Swiss CNC-machined steel center, investment-cast 8620 steel levers, black phosphate finish throughout. Assembly weight comes in at just 0.74 ounces. Made in the USA and backed by a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.

The BAD-ASS-PRO is designed to be compatible with all known AR-15, M4, and M16 variant lower receivers and with all AR triggers designed to work with mil-spec full-auto safety geometry. That said, if a lower or trigger uses a non-standard design not yet known to Battle Arms Development, it could be incompatible. If you're running standard mil-spec parts or widely compatible aftermarket triggers, you should be good to go.
Both levers work with the same center assembly; the choice is ergonomic and personal preference. The short lever is lighter and more compact, while the standard lever offers a larger grip surface. Both ship in the box, so you can try each and keep the one that suits your handling style.
Instead of relying on a traditional exposed screw head that can shear or strip, the BAD-ASS-PRO uses a patent-pending internal locking set screw design. The screw is self-locking, so no thread-locker is required, and the 5/64\" screw is engineered to resist stripping. Because the fastener is internal and the locking mechanism is robust, you avoid the common failure modes of standard safety selectors.
The kit includes the full auto safety center, both a standard and short lever, two set screws, a hex key, a hardened stainless detent, and the detent spring. Everything you need to install and configure the safety for left- or right-handed use is in the box.
