The Luth-AR 16" Lo-Drag Bull Upper Receiver with free-float handguard and 1-7 twist is a complete, ready-to-assemble upper built for precision and reliability. Whether you're dialing in a flat-shooting 5.56 setup for competition, long-range practice, or general-purpose duty, this upper starts with quality materials—4150 CMV barrel steel, 6061-T6 aluminum receiver, and mil-spec internal components—then pairs them with thoughtful design choices like the Lo-Drag target crown and free-float architecture to minimize harmonics and let your rifle shoot to its potential.
The free-float handguard isolates barrel vibration, a hallmark of precision builds. Luth-AR designed the Lo-Drag Palm handguard to keep your support hand comfortable while maximizing consistency shot to shot. Inside, the bolt carrier and charging handle are included, so you're not hunting parts; the carrier is 8620 steel with 4340 alloy steel cam pin and 4130 carrier key, all heat-treated to Army spec and manganese phosphate finished. The bolt itself is Carpenter 158 steel with a 4140 alloy steel extractor, equally robust.
The barrel wears a 1-7 twist for stable bullet engagement across the 5.56 NATO range. Six-land and groove rifling with M4 feed ramps and button-broached construction support reliable feeding and accuracy. The gas block journal is .936" diameter and set up for carbine-length gas tube operation. Note that this barrel is not chrome-lined, so you'll want to keep a regular cleaning routine—a small price for the precision architecture and material choices Luth-AR brought to this upper.
This is a no-frills, purpose-built upper for shooters who understand that fit, finish, and controlled tolerances matter. Bolt it to your lower and get to work.

The upper comes complete with the bolt carrier, charging handle, and free-float handguard. You do not need to source these components separately.
A 1-7" twist is a moderate-to-fast rate designed to stabilize a wide range of 5.56 NATO and .223 Rem bullets, from lighter varmint rounds through standard military-weight ammunition. It's a versatile choice for both precision rifle shooting and general-purpose 5.56 use.
